Our mission
Spell & Grow was born from a simple idea: spelling practice should be something children look forward to, not dread. We believe every child can become a confident speller when they have the right tools and encouragement.
Our app combines audio-driven learning with spaced repetition science to build genuine, lasting spelling ability. Words are heard before they're spelled, context is provided through sentences, and tricky words automatically resurface at the perfect moment for review.
We designed Spell & Grow for both children and parents. Children see a friendly, encouraging world guided by Blossom, their growing plant companion. Parents get clear visibility into progress through a dedicated dashboard — without intrusive tracking or data collection.
Our educational approach
Every word in Spell & Grow is carefully curated and aligned to the UK National Curriculum. Our word lists cover KS1 and KS2 statutory spelling rules, common exception words, and the vocabulary children encounter in everyday reading.
We use the SM-2 spaced repetition algorithm to schedule reviews at scientifically optimal intervals. This means children spend their practice time on words they actually find challenging, rather than endlessly repeating words they already know.
Mistakes are never punished — they're learned from. When a child misspells a word, it enters the Practice Boost queue for targeted review. Every session ends with celebration, keeping confidence and motivation high.
